For Immediate Release
December 4, 1996

Revelar Software of Salt Lake City, Utah, announces the release of the
Revelar Connection Utility version 2.2 for Macintosh and Windows
computers. RCU version 2.2 is a live connection from any Newton OS 2.0
PDA to the desktop computer, and is compatible with the MessagePad 2000
and eMate 300. RCU 2.2 is now a single SKU and has both Macintosh and
Windows software in the box. Both Macintosh and Windows desktop
applications share the same Newton application (package) for connection.

Version 2.2 for Macintosh contains several bug fixes, and has an
improved interface and improved speed, and has been made cross platform
compatible with RCU 2.2 for Windows.

Version 2.2 for Windows represents a major rewrite of RCU 1.6, making it
fully NOS 2.0 savvy. It is Windows 3.1 and Windows95 compatible. In
addition, RCU is extensible, allowing 3rd party developers to write a
simple text document called an ADF (Application Definition Format) file
that permits end users desktop access to their Newton data.

Version 2.2 ships with support for the built-in Newton applications as
well as several 3rd party ADFs, including: In Box by Apple Computer,
Gulliver by True North, Action Names and PaperPak by Iambic Software,
and several others. Since Apple Computer's Newton Connection Utility
will not be extensible, RCU represents the quickest and most cost
effective way for developers to get their Newton data to the desktop.
Revelar's developer process is as follows:

* Revelar will assist developers in writing their ADFs at no or minimal
cost.
* Developers send Revelar a copy of their Newton applications and ADFs
for testing.
* If requested by the developer, Revelar will post the developer's ADF
files on Revelar's web site (ADF Clearinghouse page) at no cost. These
files are available to the public for download at no cost.
* Revelar will bundle, at its descretion, ADF files in it's shipped
versions of RCU.
* Developers may license locked copies of RCU along with their ADFs for
bundling at no cost, except for the cost of media, and end users contact
Revelar to unlock RCU at a discounted price.

The RCU electronic User's Guide contains a chapter on how to write an
ADF file. RCU may be downloaded from our website at www.revelar.com.
